March 2, 2021
Hello Summer Music alumni, faculty and friends,
We hope this letter finds you well. It has been just about a year since our world changed. At that time no one knew what would come and how long we would all be in the “new normal”. In the spring of last year, Summer Music Society was forced to make the tough decision to cancel Summer Music 2020, looking forward to 2021. Sadly, 2021 will also be a year without Summer Music. At our recent meeting, the Summer Music Society board made the difficult decision to cancel Summer Music 2021. We are disappointed, like many of you will be, that this decision had to be made. The safety of all Summer Music participants and our community were at the center of our decision.
As 2021 continues, we will look to see what Summer Music Society can do, within restrictions, to bring some music back to our community. We do not know what this will be but we will find a way. Look for future news on summermusic.com.
Over the many years of Summer Music, our camp has become a staple of our community in the summer. We want to thank everyone who has helped keep us going by volunteering, through financial gifts or as a musical performer or camper! We look forward to the opportunity to have us all together again.
Unlike last year, we do have more light at the end of the tunnel. With vaccines rolling out and everyone’s continued vigilance, we will be looking to summer 2022 as a marvellously musical return bash for Summer Music Camp. Let the roaring 20s begin!
See—and hear—you soon,
President, Summer Music Society On Behalf of the Board of Directors
